This is the first time we witness the rally version of the Fiat 124 Abarth being driven on the road and boy, does it sound good.
Fiat decided to return to rallying with the 124 Spider, an idea so refreshingly different, it almost brought a tear to our eyes. Think about it, a two-seater RWD roadster screaming its way on a special stage, tearing down the road, oversteering everywhere.
And then this video arrives, allowing us for the first time to hear the turbocharged 1.8-litre engine and see the car moving gracefully across the landscape. 300hp, a six-speed sequential gearbox and a fixed composite roof are the highlights.
We can all thank FIA for creating the R-GT class, which basically allows supercars and sportscars to enter a rally. The Abarth 124 R GT Rally car is set to debut at the 2017 rally season.
