Audi is determined for the next-generation A8 to be as plush as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class while still offering involving driving dynamics.
According to Autocar, the German marque has developed new suspension technology which enhances both ride and handling characteristics while working in conjunction with a re-calibrated electrically-assisted power steering system. This should help make the new A8 exceptionally comfortable in its standard driving modes yet still engaging to drive when the chassis settings are changed.
It is thought that Audi has done so in an attempt to rival the S-Class which continues to lead the BMW 7-Series and current A8 in sales.
Importantly, the new power steering and suspension systems to debut on the latest A8 will be transferable to a range of Audi models, including future S and RS branded vehicles.
Beyond its improved chassis, the new A8 will adopted a host of advanced autonomous driving features and a much-improved interior. The vehicle’s exterior design will also debut Audi’s updated design language, first previewed by the Prologue Concept of 2014.
