After releasing their Super 160, 175+ and 190 tuning packages for the Mazda MX-5 last year, BBR is now launching a new pack called the ‘Super 200’, which slashes 0-60 mph (96 km/h) times to just 5.65 seconds.

The Super 200 upgrade boosts peak power output by 45 horses and peak torque by 27 lb-ft (35 Nm), bringing the totals to 205 BHP and 180 lb-ft (244 Nm), from the factory standard 160 HP and 153 lb-ft (207 Nm).

Furthermore, where the stock engine was reluctant to hit higher revs, the BBR Super 200 tune takes the power unit to well above 5,500 rpm, offering intense performance and responsiveness all the way to 7,150 rpm.

The entire upgrade consists of exclusive, high performance replacement billet steel intake and exhaust camshafts with upgraded valve springs and retainers, a bespoke stainless steel exhaust manifold and a custom-made cold air intake system. On the electronics side, the Super 200 works together with BBR’s StarChip ECU software upgrade, which includes revised fuel, ignition and cam timing calibration – while still retaining all of Mazda’s OEM fail safes.

MX-5 owners looking for even more performance can opt for the ‘Super 200+’ pack which offers a selection of optional additional components such as a 2.5 inch diameter high performance exhaust center section (£495) and the BBR silencers (£395), which boost power output to 214 BHP.

There’s also the possibility of going with a gas flowed cylinder head, helping the 2.0-liter MX-5 hit 225 BHP on the dyno.

Other optional components include the £995 BBR Sports Suspension, £312 BBR/Eibach adjustable Anti-Roll Bar kit and the £595 brake caliper upgrade package which features Wilwood 4 piston calipers, BBR CNC machined aluminum anodized mounting brackets, stainless steel brake lines, BP20 Street Performance brake pads and high-temp 5.1 brake fluid.
