Coming in 1965 to succeed the 356 as the brand’s new entry-level model, the Porsche 912 Coupe remained in production until 1969, with its four seats, rear-engine and rear-wheel drive layout.

During this time, it became a popular choice with customers across the globe, especially in the USA, and its impressive handling, combined with good reliability, made it a popular choice for motorsport teams, managing to win the 1967 European Rally Championship.

Rolling off the assembly line in 1968, this particular example was brought back from the United states last year and, since then, it underwent a body and mechanical restoration, during which it was stripped to bare metal and painted in Irish Green. It remains pretty much original, except for the floor pans, which were replaced, and even the seats, headlining and door covers remain in factory condition.

Accompanied by the original handbooks and powered by a 90 HP 1.6-liter engine, mated to a five-speed gearbox, it will go under the hammer at The Porsche Sale 2016, on October 15, at the Silverstone track, in Northamptonshire, where it’s estimated to fetch between £38,000 and £42,000 ($50,275-$55,570).
