BMW Films is returning with Clive Owen some 15 years after the original series ‘The Hire’ was shot by the automaker.
The original BMW Films series was so highly regarded that it was named one of the ‘Top Campaigns of the 21st Century’ by the Advertising Age and dubbed as the first major media event in marketing in the 21st century. The return of the series is therefore quite a big deal for the company so it has understandably recruited some big names.
First up, Clive Owen will return as the protagonist, playing the play as ‘The Driver’ once again. He will then work alongside John Bernthal, Dakota Fanning and Vera Farmiga. Behind the camera will be District 9 director Niell Blomkamp.
Furthermore, a selection of the original creators of the campaign will return, including creative director Bruce Bildsten.
The film is set to debut on Sunday October 23 at 6 pm EST at the BMW Films website but it’s not yet known how many short films are in the works. The original series consisted of two seasons and eight films, averaging just under 10 minutes each.
