Chevrolet has been steadily bolstering its truck lineup with special, murdered-out Midnight Editions.
It’s already applied the treatment to the Trax and Equinox crossovers and to the Colorado and Silverado pickups, and even to the Impala sedan.
Now it’s doing the same with the Tahoe and Suburban.
In the case of the full-size SUVs, the Midnight Edition actually consists of two different packages. There’s the LT Midnight based on the mid-range trim level, and the Z71 Midnight that’s equipped for off-roading. Both are available on either the Tahoe or Suburban and feature roof rails and blacked-out wheels and badges.
The LT Midnight stands apart on its 20-inch alloys, but the Z71 packs all the rough-road goodies you could ask for, including special suspension and tires, skid plates, tubular side steps, fog laps, tow hooks, and most importantly a 3.42 axle and two-speed transfer case.
With two body styles and two packages, the combined array of four new models is scheduled to reach showrooms later this year. In the meantime, you can scope out images of all the Midnight editions to date in the gallery below.
