When they’re not out filming for their new The Grand Tour show on Amazon, Clarkson, Hammond and May keep themselves occupied with their Drive Tribe “side business”.

The ex-Top Gear presenters (and their associates) are discreetly working on a new petrolhead dedicated platform – described as “the world’s digital hub for motoring” – for some time now, planning to offer various opportunities to original content creators beginning with this fall.

The website will be structured intro different “tribes”, each one with its own unique take on the automotive culture and own tribe chief. Clarkson’s, for example, will be called “Alfa Male”, while May’s will be called “Carbolics”. Hammond will be also present with “Fob Jockeys”.

Financing for the project came from the trio, Andy Wilman (ex-TG producer and Clarkson lifelong friend), and DriveTribe CEO Ernesto Schmitt. But recently, 21st Century Fox got involved and invested $6.5 million, as The Guardian reports.

“We saw the DriveTribe platform and we were blown away by its ingenuity. We’re excited to collaborate with the DriveTribe team on this new approach to digital content and to help them expand their business on a worldwide basis”, said Fox Networks Group chief executive, Peter Rice.

It’s obvious that it’s going to be something big, although we’ll have to be patient to see exactly what it is. Jeremy Clarkson described it as something like “YouPorn, only with cars”, if that helps in any way.
