A driver in Howell, New Jersey got the shock of her life after being violently attacked by a deer on the side of a road.
While driving on poorly-lit section of Oak Glen Road on the night of September 17, Ellen Sager clipped a deer with her GMC Envoy. Usually, that would be the end of the story but for Sager, it was just the start.
After the hit, the deer fled to nearby shrubbery and Sager pulled over to make sure it wasn’t injured. Unbeknownst to her, the deer was ready to launch an attack and as soon as she opened the driver’s door, the deer sprinted towards her and jumped into the car.
The entire scene was caught on the dash cam of a police cruiser that had been following Sager and pulled over to offer her assistance.
Recalling the incident to Asbury Park Press, Sager said “I pulled over to make sure it wasn’t flailing in the road. Before I could even get my door open the whole way, it was basically on top of me. I grabbed hold of its antlers, and put my foot in its chest just trying to keep hm from coming in further. I got him out of the way enough for me to close the door.”
While Sager escaped with only minor injuries, the deer died shortly after, due to injuries from the initial collision.
