Honda has simplified things with the 10th generation of its compact hatchback, so the new Civic that was announced last month in the US will be a global model.
The Japanese manufacturer just announced that the European-market five-door Civic (red colored car) will be making its official debut at the upcoming Paris Auto Show. It will be identical to the North American-specification grey car pictured below minus some details such as the indicators.
In spite of being manufactured at Honda’s UK plant in Swindon, it’s the United States that will get first dibs of the 2017 Civic, starting this month, while Europeans will have to wait until January. Americans will have one engine option at launch, though, a 1.5-liter turbo four with either 174 or 180 HP, whereas on the opposite site of the pond prospective customers will also get those smoky things diesels, too.
The French show has also been chosen for the European launch of the Civic sedan that’s made in Turkey (talk about globalization…) and will also go on sale in early 2017.
Finally, the two Civics will joined by the Jazz Spotlight Edition, the production version of the Keenlight concept from Geneva that’s targeting the fashion conscious customers (talk about marketing gibberish) with its bronze front decoration and sizeable side decals.
