Two of the greatest ever supercars born in Maranello, the Ferrari F12tdf and LaFerrari, met on the famed Silverstone track, in the UK, and the outcome was, let’s just say, tense.
Breathing on the neck of the only hybrid model in the Prancing Horse’s range, the limited edition F12tdf makes the scenery blurry with what could very well be one of the last of its kind: a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, mounted at the front.
By pushing 780 PS (770 HP) and 689 Nm (508 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, it can go from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds, but keep your right foot down and give it enough space, and the needle will eventually point to 340 km/h (211 mph).
The Ferrari LaFerrari uses the same 6.3-liter V12 engine as the aforementioned model, but it has been massaged to produce 800 PS (789 HP), while it’s backed up by an electric motor that raises total output to a mind-blowing 963 PS (950 HP) over 900 Nm (664 lb-ft), taking it from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 sec and on to a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph),
Besides the staggering output, there’s also a huge pricing difference between the two on the used car market, as while the limited edition of the F12berlinetta can go for more than $1 million, it’s not uncommon to see examples of the LaFerrari change hands for four or even five times the amount.
