These two are the fastest front wheel-drive cars you can get right now, if you live in Europe.

Both of them have lapped the Nurburgring in under eight minutes, with the Golf stealing the crown from Honda after posting a 7:49.29 lap time in the German track.

Under the bonnet of the VW Golf GTI Clubsport S is a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine with 306hp (310PS) and 380Nm (280 lb-ft) of peak torque. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 62mph (0-100km/h) in 5.8 seconds and up until it hits 164mph (265km/h).

The Japanese hot hatch also uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre unit which makes 306hp (310PS) and 295 lb ft of torque (400Nm). Honda claims it’ll hit the 62mph mark from a standstill in 5.7 seconds with its top speed set at 167mph (269km/h).

Both of them come with a six-speed manual and after looking at their specs, it’s not that hard to realize that these two will go neck to neck, at least on a straight line. Which one though is the fastest?
