Jaguar Land Rover is moving its North American headquarters to a new facility. But unlike rival Mercedes-Benz, it’s not leaving the State of New Jersey. In fact it’s just moving across town from its current home in the Township of Mahwah.
The automaker opened its current headquarters in Mahwah back in 1989, and has operated from there ever since. By now its staff has grown to 250, supporting a network of 377 dealers across the United States and Canada.
The new facility will allow the headcount to swell to 315, working in a new 147,000-square-foot complex – including a 30,000-square-foot training, research and development center. The headquarters are being renovated from an existing facility located on Route 17 North, just a fifteen-minute drive from the current offices on MacArthur Boulevard.
The building is slated to adopt the same “arch” theme as the new design recently introduced for the brand’s dealers (pictured below). With plans approved, the renovation process is slated to commence before the end of this year, before the company can move in 2018. The company recently opened a new tech hub in Oregon, and has reportedly been considering opening an assembly plant in the United States as well.
Other foreign automakers with their North American headquarters in New Jersey include Volvo in Rockleigh, Mitsubishi (ironically) in Swedesboro, BMW in Woodcliff Lake, and Ferrari and Maserati in Englewood Cliffs.
