Land Rover has issued a recall for some of its smallest, least expensive models over an issue with the transmission.
The recall affects certain examples of the 2015 Discovery Sport (specifically those manufactured between September 17 and November 3, 2014) and 2014-15 Range Rover Evoque (built between July 15, 2013 and July 1, 2015). All told, that’s estimated to work out to a total of 22,657 vehicles registered in the United States.
Apparently some of those vehicles have transmission sensors whose wire harnesses may not have been properly crimped closed, which could result in the vehicle unexpectedly shift into neutral.
Since that sort of thing could increase the risk of a crash, Land Rover is asking wners to bring their vehicles in to their local dealerships to have the serial number checked. Fortunately a reflash of the transmission software is expected to do the trick, and the process is slated to start on October 14.
