You don’t often see a BMW powered by another company’s engine, but this LS3-powered E46 over here looks really nicely done.
Offered for sale in Plymouth, Michigan, this stock-looking 2003 BMW 330i ditched its straight-six 3.0-litre for a GM L92 V8 sourced from a 2007 Cadillac Escalade, with a Borg Warner T56 six-speed manual gearbox replacing the factory one.
What one can appreciate of the build is the stealthiness of it which isn’t affected by the aftermarket 18×9.5 Apex ARC-8 alloys that blend nicely with the rest of the car, not to mention that they look similar with those fitted on the iconic M3 CSL.
The limited-slip rear diff comes from a E46 M3, as are the half shafts, while the 6.2-litre V8 has now a new LS3 block, exhaust valves with hollow stems for a higher redline, a ZO6-sourced oil cooler. The seller also added a set of TC Kline dampers and StopTech high-performance brakes.
The car has done 127k miles, with the swap taking place at 121k miles. All gauges inside claimed to be functioning properly aside from the fuel economy one, with the cabin looking in good condition, leather upholstery and aluminum trim included.
The engine runs strong enough to make 459hp and 414lb-ft of torque, with the seller saying that overall drivability was a top priority. If you always liked the BMW E46 3-Series but also wanted a thunderous V8 soundtrack coming with it, you’ll need a not so stealthy $27k and a ticket to Plymouth.
H/T To BaT!
