With only 25 originally built and each one commanding more than $1 million, you won’t see many Bugatti Type 35s on the public roads. This one is different though.
That’s because it isn’t an original model, but a recreation built entirely by a small company in Argentina. Pur Sang specializes in manufacturing classic Bugattis by literally creating every component in-house.
Their cars are replicas, but everything is one hundred percent engineered and built after the original; so much so that every single part is interchangeable with the genuine model and that includes engines, wheels, fittings, and so on.
What’s more impressive is how the Type 35 was conceived by Bugatti himself, being a testament of the company founder’s genius. It was way ahead of its time, adopting various solutions to reduce unsprung weight – the use of cast aluminum wheels was actually premiered by Ettore Bugatti on the Type 35, 92 years ago.
Powered by exact copy of Bugatti’s supercharged 3-valve, 2.3-litre, overhead camstraight-8, the car produces as much horsepower as the original: 140 hp. Its 1600 pounds (726 kg) weight, however, makes it a frisky machine, capable of reaching 124 mph (201 km/h).
But enough chit-chat, it’s time to see Matt Farah driving one in the video down below.
