Chevrolet has taken the sixth generation Camaro to China, where it was showcased during an event in Shanghai.
While most Camaro fans usually go for the higher output V8s, Chinese consumers will have to settle for the 2.0-liter turbo four, which is the sole choice when it comes to the muscle car in the People’s Republic. The unit produces 271 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque and allows the vehicle to sprint from naught to sixty (96 km/h) in less than 6 seconds.
Available in 10 exterior colors for a design that has been optimized during 350 hours of wind tunnel testing, the muscle car features higher quality materials inside, a flat-bottom steering wheel and high-def configurable color displays. It’s also equipped with unique control rings around the air vents used for temperature adjustments, which eliminate the need for conventional buttons, intuitive controls, 24 different ambient lighting effects on the dashboard, center console and door panels, and a new Drive Mode Selector, with Snow/Ice, Tour and Sport modes.
“The sixth-generation Camaro builds on what has made the current Camaro such a success, with more power, more agile handling, and more technology. We took Camaro’s iconic design and redefined its bloodline for generations to come“, said the Design Vice President for GM China and GM International, Ken Parkinson.
