We all know how dangerous fog can be, especially on motorways where people don’t always adjust their speed to make up for a decrease in visibility.
Of course, the scariest factor is that once an accident does happen and traffic comes to a halt, the risk of another car or multiple other vehicles slamming into the pile increases exponentially.
This incident here took place on September 2nd in Russia in the Tula region, as vehicles were heading towards Voronezh. As you can see, the driver of the dashcam car failed to reduce speed in time, and ended up hitting a highway patrol car – the slippery surface obviously didn’t help.
Make sure to stick around until the very last moments of the clip when another car just plows into the pile, as one officer barely escapes from getting hit (and seriously hurt) in the process.
Judging by the force of the second impact, that Lada didn’t stand a chance of slowing down in time, and while we can easily connect these types of unfortunate events to driver error, it’s also a case of a “perfect storm”, where you’ve got both the road and the weather working against you.
Still, all anybody needs to do under these conditions is slow down and make sure that in the event of an emergency, they can still bring their car to a halt without causing any damage to their vehicle or to someone else.
