Porsche’s long-awaited Panamera Sport Turismo is tipped to celebrate its world debut at March’s Geneva Motor Show 2017, conflicting earlier reports.
The German marque recently confirmed that the second-generation Panamera would receive a new Shooting Brake body style inspired by that of the Sport Turismo design concept from 2012. Bloomberg says we’re six months away from seeing it in the flesh.
While it remains unclear just how similar the production-spec Panamera Sport Turismo will look, it will serve as the company’s most practical Panamera version, offering increased trunk space and potentially, more headroom for rear passengers.
If the Sport Turismo concept is anything to go by, it also has the potential to be the best looking Panamera ever.
Interestingly, Porsche has confirmed that the model will be offered for sale in the United States despite the country’s resistance to adopting hatchbacks and wagons. A U.S. launch can be expected for the 2018 model year.
Beyond the updated tailgate and roof design, the Panamera Sport Turismo is expected to remain mechanically identical to the sedan. That means it will have the same 911-inspired styling and be offered in a host of configurations.
