As electric vehicles are starting to become more popular, the Renault-Nissan Alliance have just delivered their 350,000th EV, since December 2010, when the Nissan Leaf was launched.
Pulled by the Leaf, which remains the industry’s best-selling electric vehicle ever with more than 230,000 units chosen by customers globally, the Alliance has achieved another important milestone with 100,000 EVs sold in a single year.
“This historic milestone confirms our customers’ recognition of the benefits of Renault and Nissan electric vehicles. Our commitment to contribute toward a zero-emissions world by bringing to the market a full range of affordable EVs makes Renault-Nissan the indisputable leader in EV technology“, said Carlos Ghosn, the Alliance Chairman and CEO.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance claims to be the only car group to offer a wide range of EVs for personal and business use, and in addition to the Leaf, Nissan also sells the e-NV200 light commercial vehicle, while Renault has the Zoe, Kangoo Z.E., SM3 Z.E. sedan and the Twizy urban commuter.
Up to date, Nissan is responsible for putting 250,000 zero-emission vehicles on the roads of 48 global markets, while Renault follows it, with 100,000 examples sold since the Kangoo Z.E. went on sale in October 2011. The diamond brand’s milestone was marked with a ceremony in Norway, where a customer took delivery of the landmark vehicle, a Zoe, a few days ago.
