Now that Audi has already revealed the all-new A5 and S5 in both Coupe & Sportback form, those of you expecting even more performance should watch out for the inbound flagship RS5 model.
This car was spotted recently by our spy photographers close to the Nurburgring, and upon closer inspection, we can see that Audi’s engineers have thinned down the camouflage and added more production ready parts, including the fascia, bumpers and wider fenders.
The RS5 is a more aggressive car than the A5 or the S5 for that matter, and as the top of the line version of the A5 lineup, it will obviously be the most dynamic one as well.
Powering the all-new RS5 will be the same unit expected to make its way into the new RS4, namely a newly developed 3.0-liter V6 rumored to get either two conventional turbochargers, or a small electric turbocharger delivering close to 500 horses.
Of course, as it’s primed to go up against the likes of the BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C63 & C63 S, the RS5 will need all the power it can muster – and so the 500PS actually make sense seen as how the C63 S produces 510 PS of its own.
Inside, the RS5 should be looking at the same amount of tech as the S5, though minor changes can be expected, such as new or different materials & designs for the center console or the seats, RS5 graphics integrated in the virtual cockpit and so on.
As for when we might see the new RS5 in all of its glory, it could be as early as March 2017 in Geneva so stay tuned.
