Tesla released their latest software update 8.0 for the Model S and Model X, adding new features and improving the existing ones, including the famous Autopilot.

The over-the-air update brings a ‘significant overhaul’ of their models’ central touchscreen, introducing a modern interface and more intuitive controls for the Media Player, the Maps and Autopilot.

One totally new feature the 8.0 update brought is the so-called ‘Cabin Overheat Protection’, an industry-first safety measure for when the car is parked and unattended. What this system does is to keep the vehicle’s cabin at a safe temperature for hours, even when the car is off, protecting any children or pets that are onboard, by using energy from the battery pack.

The autonomous Autopilot system has now enhanced safety features like disabling the Autosteer when warnings are ignored. Tesla has also tuned the system to be more responsive and smoother in stop-and-go traffic too.

The new update has also improved the automated front doors functionality in the Model X as accelerated the operation of the famous and also automated Falcon Wing doors. All models benefit from an easier to use voice recognition system which offers more accurate contact matching, improved recognition times and French-German compatibility.
