The bad boy of the TT range is here, with Audi injecting it with some serious supercar-baiting straight line performance.

Responsible for all that poke is of course the latest iteration of Audi’s delicious five-pot; 2.5 liters of turbocharged happiness provide 395hp (400PS) and 354lb-ft (480Nm) of peak torque to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Audi says that their new giant killer is capable of a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds which is just 0.2 sec slower than what the mid-engined R8 can do. The chassis has been enhanced with a lower by 10mm and sportier adaptive suspension and big 370mm brakes which can be optionally replaced by carbon ceramic ones.

With Porsche now installing turbo-fours into their Boxster and Cayman models and thus making them sound less special and the new TT RS retaining all the angry noises only a five-cylinder engine can produce, this might help Audi steal some customers away from its Zuffenhausen-based rival that also belongs to the VW Group.

All they need to do is make it drive like a proper sports car. Mat Watson of Car Wow delivers his first impressions on the video linked below.
