It only took Rimac five years to make their Concept_One a reality, and the car appeals to the geek petrolhead who’s looking for a unique, customizable and bespoke experience.
And we’re not talking about the old-fashioned way of (visually) customizing a vehicle’s style, but about a new, high-tech powertrain program that allows the user to tailor the Rimac’s dynamic abilities.
Unlike other cars that offer a specific layout, the Concept_One can be “programmed” to be completely rear-wheel-drive or front-wheel drive by adjusting the torque distribution. It also offers a brake balance mode that alters the brake bias.
That’s possible due to the vehicle’s four individual motors (one in each wheel) and four gearboxes. The result is a fully customizable 1088 hp supercar that’s capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.69 seconds – without a launch sequence – and cover the quarter-mile in a low 9.92 seconds.
And if that’s not enough to give someone a nerd-gasm, the Concept_One also lets its handler delve into a complex app that shows every information imaginable about it, from the G-Forces to how much torque each wheel is receiving.
Is this the car for the next-generation of “electricheads”, or what?
