Engine swaps are nothing new. In fact, it has become commonplace for shops and enthusiasts to shoehorn engines into their cars which were never meant to be there. The following one though is a little bit special.
Not satisfied with the flat-six engine of the first-generation Porsche Cayman, the crew at Power By The Hour Performance decided to install the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 made famous by the Ford Mustang.
Remarkably, this new engine managed to fit (kind of…) exactly where the standard engine resides, in the middle of the car. However, because of the V8’s additional height, the engine is no longer hidden from view and instead sticks out like a sore thumb. Even the air intake extends into the trunk.
While it isn’t known what transmission is mated to the Mustang powerplant, the car recently pumped out 428 hp and 364 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
Sure, those figures could have been achieved by turbocharging the standard engine but a V8 Cayman is just so much cooler.
