In the week since the release of Gymkhana Nine, the fast-paced and high-action video has already garnered over 10 million views on YouTube.
Now, teams from Xbox and Forza Horizon 3 have released a behind-the-scenes video describing how Gymkhana Nine came to life and how certain elements from the latest Forza game inspired some of Ken Block’s craziest stunts.
For example, the game includes a sequence where a vehicle is being being carried by a massive helicopter. In Gymkhana Nine, Block did just what you’d expect, by doing donuts around a Ford F-150 Raptor winched off the ground by a helicopter. Additionally, the scenes of Block racing a train were inspired by Forza Horzion 3.
Given how closely related Gymkhana Nine and Forza Horizon 3 are, it would have been ideal if the video was filmed in Sydney as originally intended, as Horizon 3 is set in Australia. Unfortunately, local authorities didn’t let that happen.
