Most car aficionados would have a hard time keeping an exotic machine away from the road for many years, but at the opposite end, there are those who prefer to keep their money invested into such vehicles.

This is exactly why this 1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello has covered just 300 miles (483 km) in 11 years under the possession of its first owner, who may have kept it carefully tucked away alongside his other two Prancing Horse-made supercars that were also bought as an investment, but he hasn’t spared any cent when it came to having it serviced.

Delivered new to the Isle of Man to a collector who paid £144,927 ($191,379) for it, the Italian stallion was welcomed into its second home in 2009, in West Sussex, where it was treated to considerably more use, and its odometer currently indicates 1,977 miles (3,182 km). Even so, the vendor states that the 550 Maranello has never been used on a wet road.

Its estimated selling price for when it will go under the hammer on September 3, at Salon Prive, sits between £180,000 and £220,000 ($237,694-$290,514), but for more info you might want to check out the SilverstoneAuctions official page.
