Call this one a hairdresser’s car, we dare you!Built from the ground up by Precision Chassis Works in Gilbert Arizona, this particular Boxster is a far cry from Porsche’s original mid-engined roadster.
In fact, at first glance, some may think it has little Boxster left in it, but we promise it was a genuine Boxster S when it left the factory in 2000.
Years of abuse left it with a bad engine, so its owner (the same one who owns Precision Chassis Works) decided to convert it into the angry looking NASA ST1 race car you see here, with the initial purpose of using it as a test bed for a Subaru adapter kit program that the company developed for the 996 and 987. Oh, and it also used a Subaru engine.
Afterwards, the car was converted to a higher racing class, and that’s when it received an Audi ABZ 4.2-litre V8. The result weighs 2,675 lbs (1,213 kg) and develops 316 hp on 91 octane pump gas.
Consequently, that determined other changes to be made, to the fuel, oil, electrical and cooling systems. The list of mods is interminable, and it includes carbon fiber dash panels, GT3 front brake ducts, Porsche Motorsports, 997 Cup dual master cylinder set-up, GT3 front, and much, much more. It even has a 996 Turbo front end conversion, as the Boxter shared some of its body components with the 996-gen 911. You can check the list of mods on eBay, where it’s listed for $50,000.00.
