Prior to customer deliveries of the 2017 Ford GT that’ll kick off next year, two prototypes have been spied testing side by side in Colorado.
As with previous mules that have been seen testing throughout the past 18 months, these ones are painted matte green and for the most part, are believed to be quite close to production-spec. Some differences between these and the completed car are the tailpipes, the selection of testing equipment fitted to the cars as well as slightly different taillights.
Even though we know how the new Ford GT looks and that its first two years of production have been sold out, the American marque has still yet to reveal full technical specifications about the new-age supercar.
We know that power will come courtesy of a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine but its power ouput isn’t known. With that being said, there’s a good chance the GT will boast in excess of 700 hp, making it a key rival to the Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.
As with the latter of those two, drive will be sent exclusively through an automatic transmission, channeling power to the rear wheels. A selection of active aerodynamics are also promising to make the GT a fierce competitor to the very best from Europe.
