The Volkswagen Teramont has yet to be revealed but the company has just dropped a new preview video revealing details about its available powertrains.

For starters, the clip says that the mid-sized SUV will come standard with a 2.0-liter TSI engine delivering 238 hp in North American-spec. For buyers looking for some added punch, a 3.6-liter V6 is set to be offered with 280 hp on tap.

Torque figures remain unknown at this stage but there’s a strong possibility these won’t be the only two engines offered for the Teramont. In fact, a plug-in hybrid four-cylinder is a shoo-in for select markets as is a potential 3.0-liter TSI with upwards of 300 hp developed by the marque for the SUV’s MQB platform.

In the clip, Volkswagen is also eager to point out that the U.S.-bound Teramont will have seven seats, rather than the six seats as previewed by the Crossblue concept of early 2013. It should also be rather capable off the beaten path when local sales begin in Spring 2017.

While the Teramont is almost identical in size to the luxurious Audi Q7, it will be priced from the low-$30,000 range. That means it’ll rival vehicles like the Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9 and Hyundai Santa Fe.
