Volvo released a eulogy dedicated to its first “Cross Country” crossover, the V70 XC, earlier today, but it also showed a glimpse of its replacement, the V90 Cross Country

In the film dedicated to the history of the Cross Country series, the Scandinavian automaker shows a part of the V90 estate-based model’s fascia.

As expected, the V90 Cross Country will offer the same basic style cues found on the regular model, although it will sport slightly redesigned front and rear bumpers with a more robust design. An increased ride height and plastic body cladding are also a given for the line-up.

Engine-wise, the V90 Cross Country will probably share the same powertrains with its counterparts, although all variants will benefit from an all-wheel-drive system.

The original model was introduced in 1997, and it featured an increased ride height, AWD, a unique front and rear bumper, and unpainted trims. Volvo described it as a car “designed to cope with the demanding requirements of an extreme Scandinavian climate”, and conceived to deal with all sorts of road conditions.

Slated to be unveiled in just a week from now, the new V90 Cross Country will undoubtedly carry the same traits.
