Whether the 5-Series GT replacement will actually be called the 6-Series GT or not, it’ll be a sleeker and more attractive hatchback people hauler.

Based on our spy shots, the new-generation model will feature a large boot and a sleeker roofline, though it’s the more aggressive profile that should ultimately transform the 5/6-Series GT from a visually practical car to a visually dynamic one, assuming it will look a lot like it does in these renders from X-Tomi.

While its engine range will include turbocharged four and six-cylinder petrol and diesel units, as well as a plug-in hybrid, if the M Division gets its hands on it, it would certainly be of worth to those who’ve always wanted a more practical M5. However, let’s not hold our breath on that one.

From a distance, it definitely seems like we’re looking more at a larger iteration of the 4-Series GC than a 5-Series GT, or at least our idea of one based on the original car. Considering the not exactly stellar reception the latter got, that’s definitely an improvement.
