Building upon the success of the Hyundai Genesis, the new Genesis G80 ticks all the right boxes when it comes to its safety offerings.

The Genesis-badged car itself hasn’t been actually tested by either agency, but since it’s basically the same as the aforementioned model, it also carries its safety ratings.

From the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) comes a maximum five-star safety rating, which applies to vehicles that were tested for their rollover resistance, in addition to the frontal and side crashworthiness.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), on the other hand, tends to award the safest vehicles that score ‘good’ in the occupant protection and ‘advanced’ or ‘superior’ in the front crash prevention system, with a Top Safety Pick+ rating, and this is the designation offered to the new Genesis G80.

Occupant safety is a key development priority for all Genesis vehicles, and the G80 is no exception with its full suite of standardized advanced safety technology. Safety is a hallmark of the Genesis brand, and we are committed to offering cutting-edge innovations and engineering developments to meet the needs of our customers and achieve these top safety honors“, said the company’s General Manager, Erwin Raphael.

The new Genesis G80 is offered with standard safety features that include automatic emergency braking, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning with a Haptic Steering Wheel, smart cruise control with stop/start, and a rearview camera. The car also gets nine airbags, pre-active seatbelts and high beam assist, in addition to the optional parking assistance system, which uses eight ultrasonic sensors located on both bumpers.
