Three 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 prototypes were recently filmed pounding the pavement in Ann Arbor, Michigan as testing of the hardcore Corvette continues.
Of the three prototypes snapped by a reader of Indian Autos Blog, one appears to be a Z06 outfitted with some testing equipment while the two others were adorned with bespoke bodywork and body cladding to disguise the dramatic styling changes expected to adorn the car.
One of the prototypes was sporting a towering rear wing while another had a smaller wing and was a convertible, suggesting that when it hits the market, the final swansong to the C7-generation Corvette will be offered in hardtop and softtop forms.
It is thought that the 2018 ZR1 will be powered by a brand new twin-turbocharged V8 engine dubbed the LT5. Chevrolet is believed to have developed this new engine as the LT4 of the Z06 is operating near its max at 650 hp and 650 lb-ft. For the ZR1, power could rise to over the 700 hp mark.
The model may debut at the Detroit Auto Show 2017 in January.
