After we’ve caught a glimpse of the exterior design of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz G-Class, it’s now time to take a first look at its cabin layout.
The first thing you notice is the steering wheel, which waves goodbye to the old four-spoke one, and is in tone with other new models made by the German brand.
Secondly there is a significantly updated overall look of the dashboard, which despite being covered up, it looks like it’s hiding the large dual-screen instrument cluster/infotainment display we’ve seen in models like the latest E-Class.
And last but not least, the classic dash-mounted grab handle is retained, pointing at the off-road oriented nature of the new G-Class and coming in handy for whoever is riding shotgun on challenging terrains.
Expected to be unveiled in two years’ time, the upcoming Mercedes-Benz G-Class will grow in size and will also lose a significant amount of weight over its predecessor, thanks to a new architecture. The new G-Class will also benefit from the company’s latest diesel and petrol engines, including the potent twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 unit, which unsurprisingly will equip the top-of-the-line AMG G63 version.
