Nowadays, customization programs are a must among exclusive car makers, and Caterham announced theirs with a special edition Seven designed by Harrods.
Known simply as the Harrods Special Edition, the automobile features special elements which highlight the array of customizable options available for Caterham buyers. Underpinned by a 420S variant, which boasts 210 hp from a 2.0-litre Ford engine, the vehicle wears a “Harrods green” paint job, complemented by custom white stripes and a gold pinstripe. The attention to detail doesn’t stop on the surface, as the car also features a gold powder-coated chassis.
“The Caterham Seven has always been one of the easiest cars on the road to personalise, because every car is hand-built and bespoke for each customer”, said Caterham’s Chief Commercial Officer, David Ridley.
The interior was also bedizened with exquisite goodies, including butterscotch leather upholstery (which reflects Harrods’ color scheme), and embroidered logos on the seats. Caterham says the car’s styling was created in conjunction with the clothing designer and buyers can pick one up in store along with their fashion and luxury items. Which brings us to the price of this particular example: £59,999 ($74,137).
A bit steep, considering that a normal 420 starts from £26,995 (albeit it comes disassembled and without a windscreen) but it’s refreshing to see Caterham pushing their products out of their comfort zone and offering a more luxurious approach.
