Chrysler’s minivans entered a new generation with the debut of the new Pacifica at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
Its arrival couldn’t arrive at a better time for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as its market share began to slide on the back of the aging Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country, which have both been on the market essentially unchanged since 2008.
The new Pacifica aims to put FCA back in the driver’s seat in a declining but still vital market. With both GM and Ford long since having shifted from minivans to crossovers as their family transports of choice, the new Chrysler Pacifica is left as the only major American contender against entries from Asian automakers, including the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, Nissan Quest, and Kia Sedona. Last month saw Chrysler already sell over 9,000 examples of the Pacifica, just edging out the Odyssey and coming second only to the market-leading Sienna.
Lighter and more refined than its long-serving predecessor, the 2017 Pacifica is available with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 in either conventional or hybrid forms. Five trim levels are offered, along with an array of accessories and prices starts at $28,595.
So far, reviews have been positive, though we have no clue why this particular car that was spotted in Colorado is still wearing camo. Is it one of the test cars that’s still been driven around like this, or a test bed for something else?
Thanks for sharing the photos, Brett!
