The clock is ticking for the debut of The Grand Tour, set to premiere globally on November 18 and providing all of us rev heads with our much needed fix of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
As is always the case with new television shows, the hosts are doing the rounds with the press to help promote the show and late last week, sat down with the Los Angeles Times having just filmed its live studio segment in California.
Although the producers of The Grand Tour have been limited to what they can do due to legal issues with the BBC, Clarkson says that, in a broad sense, it will bare some traits to Top Gear, particularly as it will include all three going on crazy adventures around the world.
Additionally, we already know that a studio segment will be incorporated into each episode, similar to Top Gear, except The Grand Tour’s studio will be based in a different city every week. So far they’ve filmed in Johannesburg and California and will soon film in the UK. The remaining nine locations for the first season have yet to be announced.
Earlier in the month, the first trailer for The Grand Tour was released, featuring segments including the three hybrid hypercars as well as a trio test of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, Mazda MX-5 Miata and Zenos E10. It’s also been confirmed that the opening sequence is a 6-minute automotive extravaganza shot in the Californian desert and is believed to have cost $3.2 million to film and produce.
