The first image of Atieva’s upcoming Tesla Model S rival has emerged online before the vehicle’s expected debut in early December.
Uncovered by Recode, documents relating to the car, dubbed the Atvus, were filed with the state of California late last year and reveal the side profile of the car.
Based on this grainy image, we can see that the Atieva Atvus will be a five-door sedan and include short overhangs at both the front and rear. The model pictured also appears to be absent of any visible door handles and includes an extended rear wheel arch which covers part of the rear wheel, helping to improve the vehicle’s aerodynamics.
Perhaps the most interesting stylistic element of the car is the short and stumpy rear-end where the thick C-pillar stretches all the way to the rear fascia leaving the car without a traditional decklid.
When it launches, the Atvus is expected to adopt the same 87 kWh battery pack which the startup has been testing in its potent Edna test mule. This powertrain pumps out in excess of 900 hp and offers acceleration to match range-topping Model S variants.
