Porsche has confirmed that the Panamera range will get a high-performance hybrid variant.
At the ongoing Paris Auto Show, the German carmaker rolled out the Panamera 4 Hybrid, complete with 462 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque thanks to its 2.9-liter biturbo V6 and electric motor. But for Porsche, that’s not enough.
During an interview with Car Advice, Porsche executive board member for research and development, Michael Steiner, said an even more powerful variant is on the cards.
“We will do one more hybrid version of the Panamera, and this will be more in the direction of a high performance derivative.
“Today I’m not willing to tell you more, but it will be better performing than the existing one,” he confirmed.
Steiner went on to say that the new Panamera 4 Hybrid is already much more performance-focused than the previous-generation Panamera hybrid and that the even faster variant will be a step above.
As for how much faster it could be, that’s anyone’s guess. It seems probable however that horsepower will rise to over the 500 hp mark and that the car will also receive a more sporty suspension and chassis set-up.
