Alongside the street-legal Porsche 911 GT1, the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR is one of the craziest supercars ever produced, making the current crop of hybrid hypercars look relatively tame.
Produced solely to meet homologation regulations for the FIA GT Championship, only 26 units were ever built for the road in almost the exact same spec as the Le Mans race cars. It’s therefore no surprise that CLK GTR’s can easily sell for over seven figures when they rarely come to the used car market.
German dealership Autohaus Sud GmbH currently has a particularly stunning example up for sale on James Edition, priced at 2.45 million euros ($2.66 million), significantly more than both the Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1 are fetching at the moment.
For that money, customers receive a roaring 6.9-liter V12 engine delivering 600 hp at the crank and funneled to the rear wheels, making for a 0-100 km/h (62mph) sprint time of fewer than 4 seconds.
Additionally, the CLK GTR has one of the craziest exteriors of any road car with an impossible low ride height, flowing rear wing, flared arches and a compact cockpit.
