Rallycross fans may have witness the best overtake of all time at last week’s event held in Germany.
The penultimate round crowned Mattias Ekstrom as the FIA World Rallycross Champion, but Swedish driver Kevin Eriksson stole the show with the greatest pass we’ve seen all year and his first ever victory.
Racing against the likes of Ekstrom, Solberg and Hansen isn’t easy, but the Swede managed to pull his own weight after a disappointing qualifying session.
Starting in fourth, Eriksson managed to complete a stunning drift around his competitors in the first corner, getting in the lead and staying there until the end of the race. What’s even more remarkable is that the pass was performed on the outside, proving how unpredictable rallycross can be if you have the skills to back up your courage.
And here’s the kicker, unlike his rivals – who are former WRC, DTM and Race of Champions… World Champions – Eriksson debuted this year in the series at the young age of 20.
