The Jaguar-Land Rover group is a British company, and always will be, even if its current owner is Indian conglomerate Tata. Like all automakers, though, it conducts its vehicle tests around the world.
Spotted testing in Colorado is a variety of SUVs, including the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Evoque, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and even a Jaguar F-Pace – the debut crossover that Land Rover helped develop for “sister” company Jaguar.
Most heavily disguised of them all is what appears to be the new Discovery that was unveiled in Paris. Where the previous four generations of the model made since 1989 were characterized by a decidedly boxy, upright, and utilitarian shape, the new fifth-generation Discovery takes a sportier form. That design was previewed by the Discovery Vision concept and the smaller Discovery Sport, both of which made their debuts in 2014, before the new Discovery 5 debuted just last month at the Paris Motor Show.
Testing a new vehicle (which had yet to make its debut when these shots were taken) makes perfect sense, of course. But what’s piqued our interest more is the partially camouflaged examples of the other models that have all been on the market for years now. Just what Land Rover has in store for the Discovery Sport, Evoque, Range Rover, and Range Rover Sport, we don’t know, but we’re looking forward to finding out – so watch this space for more.
Tip of the hat to Brett for sharing the extensive array of spy shots!
