Additional details about the long-awaited Mercedes-Benz pickup are set to be released later this month.

In a press release detailing the strategic partnership between the Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler, it was also revealed that the Mercedes pickup will be manufactured at Renault’s plant in Cordoba, Argentina and Nissan’s factory in Barcelona Spain.

The release goes on to say that “In October, Mercedes-Benz will provide further insights into the new pickup truck’s design, strategy and markets.”

So far, it has been confirmed that the model is being produced with a focus on the European, Australian, South African and Latin American markets. We also know that underpinning the pickup will be the same architecture as the latest Nissan NP300 Navara and that the model will have its own unique Mercedes-Benz design and features.

As with other Mercedes models, the pickup, potentially dubbed the GLT, will be offered in a number of guises and specifications but an AMG variant is unlikely. Instead, an entry-level model targeted towards tradesmen will be produced alongside a more luxurious and plush alternative.
