While the rest of us are waiting for Amazon to start selling cars online in our markets, overseas buyers are getting just such an opportunity. First Seat started selling its Mii by Mango edition on the French portal, and now Mini is selling a special edition Cooper S in India.
Called the Mini Cooper S Carbon Edition, the special hatchback features a tuning kit to boost output from the 2.0-liter turbo four to 210 hp, slotting in between the standard Cooper S (with 189 hp) and the full JCW performance model (with 228).
It also features an upgraded aero package and other accessories from the John Cooper Works catalog designed to give the vehicle “a precisely measured increase in performance properties and a particularly intense racing sensation.”
It’s further distinguished visually by matte black and red racing stripes, special 17-inch alloys, black-framed LED head- and tail-lights, and an interior with JCW sports seats, red-stitched black Alcantara trim, and other sporty touches.
Prospective buyers in India will be able to order the special edition exclusively through Amazon.in for INR 3,990,000. That works out to nearly $60,000 at current exchange rates, representing an 840,000-rupee premium over the standard Cooper S that starts at INR 3,150,000 rupees ($47k).
