An image revealing the overhauled front fascia of the next-generation Kia Picanto city car has leaked online before the vehicle’s early 2017 debut.
Uncovered by Kia-World, the image reveals that the new Picanto will take obvious design inspiration from the updated Kia Rio. As such, it features a massive blacked-out lower front grille and an additional, much thinner, grille extending between the base of both headlights.
Additionally, this image reveals that the 2017 Picanto adopts almost identical fog light clusters as the Rio, albeit with square lights rather than the circular ones of the Rio.
Beyond the front end, there’s not much else to say about the design of the new model as prototypes have only been snapped bathed in thick camouflage and body cladding.
When it launches, there’s a strong possibility the 2017 Picanto will be offered exclusively as a 5-door hatchback and arrive with an updated version of the 1.0-liter petrol engine found in the current car. Additionally, the 1.0-liter T-GDI three-cylinder turbo’d unit of the Cee’d could also find its way into the smaller Picanto.
