Intel that BMW will revive the 8-Series just keep coming in, and the latest state it might get a range topper developed by M Division.
As previously reported, Autonews suggests that the 8-Series will replace the 6-Series coupe and act as a rival to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. It will therefore be priced slightly above the 7-Series, but below the BMW-based Rolls-Royce Wraith, at about 150,000 euros (~$165,000).
It is believed that, just like the S-Class, the 8-Series will be offered in numerous configurations and with a selection of engines. The range-topping M8 is already being discussed internally and while it’s too early to say what engine it will use, the 600 hp, 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 of the upcoming all-wheel drive M5 is a likely candidate. Just a few months ago, BMW trademarked the M8 moniker, giving credence to its possible launch.
Finally, apart from an M8 which would rival the S63 AMG Coupe, BMW may also offer the 8-Series with a V12 in a move to match the S65.
