While Felipe Massa will hang up his full-time racing helmet at the conclusion of the current Formula One season, motorsport fans will have one last chance to see him at action when he competes in January’s Race Of Champions.

The Brazilian has competed in the competition on three previous occasions, making his debut way back in 2004 at the Stade de France in Paris. He then competed the following year, also in Paris, and made his return at London’s 2015 event.

Throughout his Formula One career, he has amassed 11 grand prix wins, over 40 podiums and famously finished one point behind Lewis Hamilton in the race for the 2008 driver’s championship.

Discussing his return to Race Of Champions, Massa said “It’s a fantastic pleasure for me to participate in the Race Of Champions for another year. The event is a big challenge and it’s a great idea to have a race with the best drivers from all the different motor sport categories. I look forward to meeting up with my old friend and fellow countryman Tony Kanaan. In 2004 in Paris we made up a very good combination: he beat Sébastien Loeb and I beat Michael Schumacher until we were both given penalties for touching the guard rails too much.”

Other confirmed drivers for the event, scheduled for January 21-22 at Miami’s Marlins Park, include Sebastian Vettel, Tom Kristensen, Juan Pablo Montoya, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Travis Pastrana, Petter Solberg and Kurt Busch.
