Jerry Seinfeld’s love of cars landed him a huge Porsche collection, which he recently sold, and an entertaining TV show.
The comedian always had an affinity for exotic cars, showing it in his hit TV series, Seinfeld, where he owned a Saab 900. Eventually, Seinfeld extrapolated his passion for cars in a show called Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, which was introduced on Crackle in 2012 and features him driving around celebrities while engaging in casual conversations.
However, in spite of being an online hit, with Sony saying that it has generated more than 100 million streams, the contract for the show on Crackle is expiring, and according to the New York Times, anonymous sources familiar with the matter said Seinfeld’s representatives have been in talks with Netflix and Hulu about taking over the series.
However, Sony will still produce the series in partnership with Seinfeld and continue to make money if the show gets in the hands of another online distributor.
“Comedians in Cars’ has been a great part of Crackle’s programming lineup for years, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Jerry Seinfeld,” said Sony in a statement.
