Unless you’re incredibly late to the party, you’ll know that the Tesla Model S P100D is the quickest sedan on the market and can accelerate rapidly enough to match some much more expensive and exclusive supercars and hypercars.
However before the P100D’s launch, there was another car home-grown in the U.S. which sent heads spinning from its dizzying power and speed, namely the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. So which of the two is the fastest?
Well it shouldn’t come as a suprise that down the quarter mile, the Model S is faster than the Hellcat but not by as much as you might expect.
In this latest drag race between the pair, the all-electric sedan completes the sprint in just 10.8 seconds at 122.2 mph (196.6 km/h). Not far behind is the Challenger Hellcat with a time of 11.09 seconds at 123.45 (198.6 km/h) mph.
As more and more drag racing videos of the P100D pop up online, it’s becoming increasingly obvious that unless you own a 600 hp+ mid-engined supercar, Elon’s silent slayer will pip you at the line.
