In the off-chance anyone needed a reminder of the variety of vehicles General Motors churns out, here’s a look at a small cross-section of the new metal testing in just one place.
Even with Hummer, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Saab out of the picture, it still runs the Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac, each with its own extensive product portfolio.
And then, of course, there are its overseas brands like Opel, Vauxhall, Holden and a whole lot of labels under which it operates in China alone. That amounts to an unfathomable array of vehicles, and before it can even begin production and marketing, it has to design, engineer, develop, and test each one.
This latest crop of vehicles was spotted testing in Colorado, alongside the new Buick LaCrosse and Corvette prototypes we brought you the other day. As far as spy shots go, there’s nothing particularly noteworthy about any of them. But as a group, they just go to show the breadth and scope of the industrial powerhouse that is GM.
There’s a a Buick Encore, a GMC Yukon XL, a couple of Savana vans, a Cadillac CTS and a CT6. And that’s just a tiny portion of the vehicles GM makes, not even getting into the Chevy lineup that encompasses the largest product portfolio under the huge corporate umbrella popping out of downtown Detroit and covering the entire globe.
